The Vaisala LAP®-12000 Tropospheric Wind Profiler is a Doppler radar which provides vertical profiles of horizontal wind speed and direction, and vertical wind velocity up to an altitude of 12 km above ground level. By adding the Radio Acoustic Sounding System (RASS) option, the system can provide measurements of virtual temperature up to 5 km. LAP®-12000 is configured for a particular site and operational requirements. The applications include for example climate change research, space launch support, synoptic upper air and mesoscale observations and analysis.
